Bonsai From Seedlings

Ok, I am going to be embarking on the challenge of growing bonsai from seedlings. It should be a lot of fun and hopefully I will learn a lot about it.
I will keep you updated on my progress on this page.

Lot of 3 Healthy Mimosa tree seedling (Albizia julibrissin) starter plugs, not bare root. Albizia julibrissin has a wide variety of common names, such as Persian silk tree or pink siris. It is also called Lenkoran acacia or bastard tamarind, though it is not too closely related to either. The species is usually called "silk tree" or "mimosa" in the United States. Its leaves slowly close during the night and during periods of rain, the leaflets bowing downward. In Japan its common names are nemunoki, nemurinoki and nenenoki which all mean "sleeping tree". Grows best in zones:6-9 Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils, prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils and can grow in very alkaline and saline soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers dry or moist soil and can tolerate drought. The plant can tolerates strong winds but not maritime exposure. Mimosa trees have beautiful, pink fragrant blooms and are attractive to bees, butterflies and hummingbirds Traditionally known in China as the "herb of happiness," Albizia julibrissin is one of the most valued Chinese botanicals for supporting a healthy mood. International Bonsai sells seedlings on a seasonal basis. They offer a wide variety of wonderful seedlings some as bare root seedlings and some as potted pre-bonsai. But their sales are seasonal which makes sense. They also have a nice pdf catalog you can check out. If you are looking to start with some of the more exotic types of trees like Dwarf firethorn, Trident Maple, Hornbeams or Japanese Snowbell this is the company that has them.
