Make a Cardboard Box Aquarium Part 2

Now we add the various fish and the light up hood on the top of the tank.

Adding the fish and swimming sea life

You can add anything at all into the center of the tank. Some ideas would be any variety of fish. Some colorful and good looking ones would be Clownfish, Butterfly fish, AngelFish, goldfish, and Parrot fish.

And there are other types of sea life that you could add including sea horses!

I recommend using thin clear fishing line to suspend the fish in the tank and use two lengths of it so the fish don't randomly rotate.

To mount the fish in the tank you should puncture holes in the sea bottom you made. And run the fishing line through the holes - gluing or taping underneath.

And when attaching the fishing line to the top of the tank I recommend you only attach to the front flap of the box. This way you can still open the back flap to get into the tank as you need to.

The hood light

LED Lights

This packet of LED's is a terrific bargain. I have used them for many projects. You get six strings of LED's with lots of lights on each string. And the strings are all 7 feet in length. And... it comes already loaded with the batteries and on/off switch. These are literally ready to go.

Make a hood like this. It is three pieces of cardboard.

Fold it up and glue it together then add the lights.

And mount the on/off switch on the outside so you can easily reach it.

Cut a rectangular hole in the back top flap and glue the hood over it.

That's it! Your very own aquarium. And you never have to worry about feeding the fish or cleaning the tank :)
