If you want to completely separate the three sheets of cardboard you can soak it in water. That will do it. But we want to only remove the top layer of paper.

And to do this we brush on water. But let's do a few things first.

In order to get a well shaped tube we should use something as a mold to wrap the cardboard around. You can use just about anything. But select something that is about the size you want.

Let's make a big cardboard cylinder by using the 2 liter bottle.

Measure the circumference around the bottle. That will be the width of our sheet of cardboard. The circumference of this bottle is 13 1/2 inches. We will cut a piece of cardboard to 14 inches wide.

And we want our cylinder to be ten inches tall. So, let's cut a piece of cardboard that is 14 inches by 10 inches. And notice the direction of the corrugations. It is important.

Brush on a nice thick layer of water. Let' it soak in for at least five minutes.

And repeat this process. Do at least three coats of water. Don't rush this process. Wait 5-10 minutes between coats and don't let it dry in between coats.

Attempt to peel the layer of paper off. If it is difficult you can go ahead and apply more water. And you can apply water in difficult areas.

With a few tries it will become easy to peel off the layer of paper.

While it is still wet wrap it around your mold. And be sure to wrap it so the corrugations are on the inside of the tube. That will make the strongest cylinder.

Trim the cardboard as needed and tape it in place. If the tape doesn't stick well you can dry the cardboard a bit with paper towels.

Set it aside and let it dry.

Now let's finish it off by putting the sheet of paper back onto the cardboard. Mix white glue with a little bit of water and apply it to the paper.

And that's it. Let it dry and you will have a nice sturdy, and good looking, cardboard tube.
