How to make a cardboard dollhouse - page 2

Let's start the building of the dollhouse by making the back half.

Let's start out by making the back half of the dollhouse.

The back of the dollhouse

The first page of the template shows us all the pieces we need to make. And note that on this page it shows that you should make two of the rooves. One for this half of the dollhouse and one for the front half of the dollhouse.

The blueprints

But for this section of the dollhouse we need five pieces.

- One base

- One back

- Two sides

- One roof (Note: Make a second roof for the other half of the dollhouse. Use the roof pattern on this page)

So go ahead and cut these pieces out of cardboard.

And we are going to glue together double stacks we end up cutting out of cardboard a total of ten pieces.

When adhering sheets together apply a nice even coat of spray to one full side of one of the pieces.

Applying an even coat of adhesive

Go ahead and make all the pieces.

Gluing two pieces together

let's assemble them together. Warm up the hot glue gun!

And apply a nice thick bead onto the base piece.

Apply a thick bead of hot glue

Then affix the back piece right onto that bead. Hold it in place until the glue cools and sets. Less than a minute.

Affix the back to the base

Next glue on the two side pieces. These are glued to the sides of the assembly, not on top of it. what I mean is that you should apply the hot glue to the sides of the two pieces previously glued. Then slide that side piece right up against it.

Affix the sides

Finally you glue the roof on. From front to back it should be an even match. And on the sides it hangs over about one inch.

Add the roof

Now finish off this whole piece by applying a liberal amount of glue to all the joints where cardboard pieces meet. Do this on the inside of the structure and on the outside. This will make it all very strong.

Apply more hot glue

Okay! the back half of the dollhouse is done. Let's move on to the front half.
