How to Make a Lord of the Rings Helmet out of Sheet Metal: Part 2

In this part of the tutorial we start on the metal work.

Lay out the template on a piece of sheet metal and draw around it with a marker.

After that, I started cutting out the pieces using tinsnips.

After cutting I sanded the edges to make them smooth. I also cut out the front "wings" and mount it temporarily on the helmet by cutting it a little bigger around the nose guard and fold it in as you can see below.

Now I have the larger parts ready and can begin assembly.

I also began working on a chainmail neckguard. It's going quite slow, but I think it will work.

ChainmailWant to Make Chainmail: This is a tutorial that shows you step-by-step how to make chain mail. I show you which wire to use, how to create the rings and how to weave the actual mail. How to make chainmail. I will also be doing a tutorial on how to make a piece of chainmail armor.

Today I started trying to plan how to put the pieces together. It was not as easy as I had hoped, it was difficult to secure the face shield so that it had the correct angle.

Today I started to put together the helmet. To attach the face shield, I used two pieces of sheet metal strips (see below). This gave it a good height, which meant that I could use two leather straps to create a form of suspension and make the helmet comfortable to wear.

Let's continue and finish the helmet
