Make Tauriel's Fighting Knives - Part 2

This is part two of the tutorial on how to make Tauriels Fighting Knives. In this part of the tutorial we glue together the blades, decorate them and paint them.

Part 1 of this tutorial is here

Sand the edges

If you have sand paper or emory paper use it to smooth out the rough edges and rough cuts on the sword pieces.

Glue pieces together

Now glue two of them together. And then glue the other two together.

Mod Podge it

If you have mod podge go ahead and coat the swords with it. This will preserve it, strengthen it and give it some depth.

Mod Podge Waterbase Sealer, Glue and Finish (16-Ounce), CS11302 Matte Finish

Mod Podge dries clear in approximately 15-20 minutes and can be sanded to a smooth finish. Apply with brush or sponge applicator. Close container after each use. Clean up with water while wet. Once dry, Mod Podge cannot be removed. Use as a puzzle saver, a sealer glue, a quick finish, a textured finish,or a build-up finish." Non-toxic.

Paint blades gold

Now go ahead and paint the blades gold. Or any other color you desire! We mixed gold with a little bit of copper to get a unique bronzish color.

Paint the handles brown

And paint the handles brown.

Hot glue the details

Now use a hot glue gun to do all the details. These are around the leaf patterns, the triangles and at the end of the pommel. Do a nice thick bead.

The details

Here is a look at the hot glue in place. It is around the leaves, around the triangles and not shown but there is also some on the leaf pattern and hole at the end of the pommel.

GLue pattern

Here is a closeup of the glue pattern.

The handle

And don't forget the glue details on the pommel.

NextOkay, Let's continue with the tutorial and finish the swords
