About this project : Sculpting miniatures is one of my favorite things. I have always loved it. You don't have to be a master artist or sculptor to do it. Just a little bit of practice and you can make some wonderful minis that you can be very proud of. Look through the tutorials on the left of this webpage and you can see lots of different ones that I show you how to make.

Tools and Materials

We don't need a whole lot of stuff to do something this. Here it is from left to right

Let's Get Started!

SKetch of a human figure

Let's first take a look at the human body.

If you want the proportions to be correct on your miniature a good rule of thumb to know is the rule of sixes. You can break the human figure down into six equal parts, each part being about the size of one head. Just like you see in the drawing here. The head is one, the torso is about two heads and the legs are about three heads.

Keep this in mind when sculpting out your miniature. It will help a lot.

So, do out a bunch of drawings until you get the version of figure that you want to sculpt. This process of drawing it first will save you a lot of time and will defnitely help you to make a better miniature.

Battlemage drawing

Here is my final drawing. This is the battlemage that I am going to sculpt, complete with staff and cape.

Scale of the drawings

Now make one more drawing of your figure. This time make it the actual size you want your miniature to be. In our case the mini will be one and three quarter inches tall.

NextOk, we now now what to sculpt! Let's continue with the tutorial and start sculpting!!
