The break-away wall is not a complicated special effect for the animation but it is an important one. It emphasizes the power of the word shout and the opening in the wall is a segue into the next animation. The dragonslayer steps through this wall opening and this installment of the series ends.

Here is a look at the break-away wall. It is composed of several brick sections that are attached to strings. I pull the strings and all the wall pieces fall away, exposing the hole in the wall.

This picture shows the brick assembly from the back side of the wall. The pieces have been cut and are in place. The brick pattern is cut along the brick pattern on the front so it looks like the bricks break away in a natural fashion.

This picture shows what the wall looks like with everything in place. Looks pretty good. Now at the right time the strings can be pulled and the bricks break out.
