The blacksmithing of the sword was a great learning process for me and a good exercise in persistence. The sword is now done. Would have been great to do it quicker but with all the projects I had to just do it mostly on weekends. Now I am thinking about the next sword or possibly a piece of armor. This next blacksmithing project, whatever it is should be a whole lot of fun. If you are interested in the whole process and want to see how a sword is made I have the whole series of videos and step by step tutorials right here: Blacksmithing a sword

One of the big things about this project is that I tried to keep everything pretty cheap. No need to get all fancy with the stuff. The forge I specifically made for this sword is just a 55 gallon drum cut in half. Thats a big deal.

I usually post to this blog about various projects as I complete them. This post is about some of the projects that I am working on. There is some fun stuff here. The picture above is of the sword I have been working on. I am making progress with it and it is a lot of fun. This is part of a youtube project that I am doing and if you want to check out how to really make a sword in your own back yard you can see the first vid in the series here: Blacksmithing a Sword

I have also started working on the medieval village diorama and that is a project that a lot of people are looking forward to. I will be giving all kinds of great diorama making advice throughout the series of vids and tutorials in that project. The Medieval village Diorama

And I have started working on the next installment of the Dragonslayer 7. Our dragonslayer has adventured off into the woods and camped out for the night. In the next installment he will come to the dragons castle and possibly encounter the dragon.

I have been working on a few different science projects. This is a lot of fun and I will be doing quite a few more of them. The latest project is how to make a home made barometer. Interesting little project because it is easy to make and it really works. You can monitor and track pressure changes and predict when a storm is moving in. Here is the project: How to make a barometer

It is in my trebuchet section where I have just about everything you would want to know about trebs including tutorials on how to make them ranging from 1 foot in size to ten feet in size. I also have pics and information about a real trebuchet that I took pictures of at a medieval fortress in Cairo. I call it Saladin’s trebuchet. Anyhoo, all the trebuchet stuff is right here: Trebuchet Crazy

I really love stop motion animation. It is very time consuming and a whole lot of work but it is very creative. Well, If you are in tune with my Dragonslayer series of projects on my youtube channel then you know about the DragonSlayer 7 project. This is where I find a mysterious military container and open it up. To make a long story short I get transformed into an animated world and now I must fight and face the dragon.

The project is currently ongoing and I have four videos in the series. I also have a lot of informatoin about it and about stop motion animation on my website. The last installment of this animation required me to make a pretty complex movie set that was a copy of two rooms of my house. Lot of work but a lot of fun too.

You can watch the videos and learn more about stop motion on my website here. The DragonSlayer 7 Stop Motion Animation

This year I set the goal to really get a lot done on my medieval castle website and it is coming along really nicely. I have visited one local castle this year (Lucknow) and have added several interesting things to the site including pictures of what I consider to be fairy tale castles, famous sieges of castles, a castle timeline over the centuries and welll even more. This is definitely a passion of mine and if you are interested in Medieval castles then check out my website right here: Medieval Castles

There is a lot of creative stuff there and lots and lots of tutorials. As of this posting the latest video is a stop motion animation project called the DragonSlayer 7 Adventure begins. It is a short animation and it was a lot of fun to make. It also brings together a lot of different stuff for me including some classical guitar which I played as the sound track. Check out my youtube channel here.
