My computer is the heart of my whole online presence. And it is six years old! That’s quite okay, it has served me well these past years but it is definitely starting to struggle. So, for the past six months I have been saving up and have finally ordered a new computer from Dell.
I have been purchasing from Dell for just about twenty years now and am very happy with my purchases. Think about it, my current computer has not failed me for the past six years.
But it is time for a new one, before this one experiences a catastrophic failure. It does happen!
And an interesting things is that every few years when I buy a new computer I have always spent about the same amount of money. Isn’t that interesting? But every time I get a significantly better computer in terms of RAM, storage, video card etc.
That all pretty much is attributable to something called “Moore’s Law”.
In a nutshell it is the law that the size of transistors on a microchip doubles about every two years, So, that is probably the biggest factor in the fact that over the past twenty years I have gotten significantly more powerful computers yet still paid the same price.
Oh and one more thing. My new computer now has a solid state drive in it. That’s another amazing thing that has happened in the computer world. I could have got one with my current computer but I opted not to because the technology, in my mind, was still too new. But now it is a tried and true thing.
My computer crunching needs are pretty high because I do a whole lot of video editing. To date I have created over 1,000 videos. Yikes! This new computer should make that process a bit faster and easier/smoother.
If you want to check out some of my videos I have about 800 of them on my youtube channel here:
