Blacksmithing Hardy Tools

Blacksmithing Equipment Main - Forges - Anvils - Hardy Tools - Blacksmithing Products

Sometimes they are spelled Hardy and sometimes they are spelled Hardie. Either way they are some of the most important pieces of equipment any blacksmith can have. Here are Hardy tools available on amazon and on ebay. I also have real time ebay listings.

Note about Hardy tools if you are new to blacksmithing. They are always referred to with a measurement. Typically it is 1", sometimes 7/8", sometimes 3/4", or sometimes 1 1/4". These measurements are important. They denote the size of the tang on the hardy tool. And that is the size they fit in the hardy hole in the anvil. So, you have to know what size your anvil hardy hole size is before buying hardy tools! This next image shows the square hardy hole in an anvil. Jujst to the left of it is another hole, a round one. That is the pritchel hole. Measure that square hole!

Set of four Hardy tools 1" - 1 Inch Blacksmith Anvil Hardy Tool Set – Hot Cut, Creasing Tool Stake, Bottom Fuller, Turning Bending Scrolling Fork

  • Turning Bending Scrolling Fork -- Fits in a 1 inch Hardy hole in an anvil or can be used in a vise. Perfect for making larger "S" hooks, bending medium stock, and most any scroll work. This tool allows you to get leverage for bending metal by hand, with a hammer or bending wrench.
  • Creasing Tool Stake -- Fits in a 1 inch Hardy hole in an anvil, or can be used in a Vice. Perfect for making repeatable work consistent such as knife making, leaf, armour.
  • Hot Cut Tool -- Used in the anvil or clamped in a vise to cut hot metal. Use a hammer to push the metal through the cutting tool. Cut most of the way through, then break the piece off to prevent flying hot metal.
  • Bottom Fuller Used in the anvil or clamped in a vise to form metal. Use a hammer to work from the top, while the hardy tool works from the bottom. This gives you different anvil surfaces and edges to work with. Square shanks fit the square hole in the anvil and prevent rotation.
  • Superior Quality-- Hardy is made from A36 Steel, the Fork and the Fuller is made from (1018) cold rolled pennsylvania steel. Providing a higher degree of strength and durability.
