Throughout all of human history people had to struggle to stay alive. Every day was a challenge. And people worked very hard just to exist.
And when you are exerting all of your energy to keep yourself alive you have no thoughts of art.
And art blossoms when prosperity sets in. When people are doing very well and they have extra time they inevitable move into the creative arts like music, literature and the visual arts.
For a period of time the art that is created is beautiful and pure.
But, eventually the art itself becomes a business. Art is sold. And this changes art. Artists will create with the intention of making money. We see this happening on Youtube now. Youtube used to be a beautiful, and pure, thing. Now we are inundated by videos that are seeking to get more views, clicks, and money. And this taints what the video creator pursues.
And I think this is not a good thing.
I believe that art should never be sold.
Vincent Van Gogh lived his whole life in poverty. And he died in poverty. It is a sad thing to think of and to say but if he had financial success with his painting he would never have given us the masterpieces that he gave us.

Want more Van Gogh? I have traveled all over America on a quest to see his work. See pictures and more right here on my website here: https://stormthecastle.com/medieval-america/van-goghs-in-america.htm
