Two Melomel meads (Pear and Pomegranate)

A friend and myself spent a few hours today making a couple of melomel meads. (Melomel is just the technical name for a mead that you make with fruit added. One batch we made is with Pears and the other batch is with Pomegranate. They both look terrific and I bet they are going to turn out fantastic. I have been wanting to do a pear mead for a long time now and finally got to do it. And I think that pomegranate is going to make a stunningly crisp mead with a hint of tartness.

One really important thing about these two meads is that we used the honey from our own hives so this is rather special! (I do have videos and pictures of our hives here, including a pic of one of the queen bees which is pretty cool)

It was a lot of work to separate all the seeds out of the pomegranate but I had my friend do it nyuk nyuk :)

No real recipes here for you but I just really wanted to say that it was a lot of fun. Mead making is just a very rewarding thing. And tomorrow when the airlocks start bubbling it gives you just an amazing feeling of reward!
