Postage stamps of Castles from all over the world

I am a stamp collector and it is a hobby I really enjoy. Other than collecting stamps from America that are organized by years and stamp number I also collect in a way called "Topicals".

That means you collect stamps based on a topic. And one of my favorite topics is castles.

America has a few stamps devoted to castles. A good example of this is the biltmore castle in North Carolina.

But where the real richness lies in all those European countries with lots of castles! There are of course lots of stamps devoted to them. Let's take a look!

Here is my booklet for castle stamps.

Let's take a look at some stamps.

Carcassonne Medieval Walled city and Castle - Issued by France.

I have visited Carcassonnne you can see pictures and read about it here: Carcassonne

Of course, Great Britain has a whole lot of castles. And they have a whole lot of amazing stamps commemorating castles. Let's take a look at some:

From left to right they are: Hampton Court Palace, Tower of London (The White Tower), Abbey and Palace of Holyrood House, and Caernarfon castle.

Here are some of my favorites:

Postage stamp: The Battle of NancyThe Battle of Nancy Stamp. This one commemorates 500 years (1477-1977) since the battle. The reason why I like this stamp so much is that the design is very 500 years old. The medieval walled village of Nancy appears like it would have in a medieval woodcut.

I like this series of French Castle stamps because they are actual photographs. Published in 1991.

From left to right they are: D'azay-le-Rideau castle, Chambord Castle, Chenonceau Castle and Fountainbleau Palace.

The country of Lichtenstein has lots of castles, and lots of castle stamps. These are two of my favorites because they show interior rooms of the famous Gutenberg Castle.

I would be remiss if I didn't include stamps of the most famous castle in the world. Here is Neuschwanstein castle in Germany.

Italy has issued a very large series of stamp, in differing dominations, commemorating Italian castles.
