Rafting the Amazon - Page 2

How to get amazon affiliate code on your website part 2

Okay so you have your code line and now you want to put it into your website. Your web builder program will have an option for making a link. It will probably look something like this:

And when you press it a dialog box comes up that looks like this:

All you have to do is insert the code you made into the URL: box. In our case it is:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0595238882/stormthecastl-20

Then insert the name of the Product in the Text: box. In our case I put "Fulcrum Shift " An Epic Fantasy Novel

Here is how it looks for real (this link really works) Try it:

"Fulcrum Shift" An Epic Fantasy Novel

Now I recommend that you buy this book just to make sure the link works right. (Just kidding)

Now in your normal web building process add any text that you want to add to make it more appealing.

"Fulcrum Shift" An Epic Fantasy Novel Fulcrum Shift is a fantasy novel filled with dark terror, mythical creatures, and pulse-pounding, sword-wielding action. A Magical Power Long ForgottenThe Fulcrum is a magical stone with tremendous power that was created by a race of people now long gone from the earth. They created it and the nine nexus stones to control the earth, but the Fulcrum's power destroyed them and nearly destroyed the earth. The Fulcrum and the nexus stones were buried and nearly forgotten for many generations.

Okey dokey, that all seems fine but what about a picture? You want pictures too because they make a big difference in the appeal of the product..

Here is how you add a picture.

In your select Link Type menu you select option 2 Image Only (Basic Display) and an image of the product comes up. Right click on that image and save it to your computer. Then in your site builder program find the option to upload an image. In the case of the site builder for this tutorial it is this button: When you roll over it, it will say Insert Image.

You just navigate to where you stored the product image on your computer and hit ok and the image is loaded up to your site builder program.

Now you don't just want the image on your website. You want it to be a link so people can click on it and go to amazon to buy it! So once you have uploaded it to your site builder it will appear in the page you are building. Single left click on the image then press the hyperlink button . A dialog box pops up and you can enter the URL into the URL box. In the case of our book it is:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0595238882/stormthecastl-20

Here is what it looks like in my example. You are probably getting tired of looking at my book so I am using a different image here; I have inserted a picture of my favorite classical guitarist and in the URL field I will put the amazon code to her CD.

Note that some site building programs might not allow you to hyperlink a picture. If this is the case with your program you will have to send an email to your web hosting service and ask them how to do it or if they even allow it.

Now Here is an example of both image and text all put together. Both the book and the title are clickable links to amazon with my affiliate code embedded.

Now for your web design you don't have to do both the text and the image. You can do just the image with link or just the text link. But remember to always put the proper ASIN code in and remember to put your affiliate code in the link.

A Little Bit about Copyrighting - Amazon.com and the Publishers and Manufacturers that sell items on amazon have rules about their images so I recommend you don't just use their images to enhance your website! Only use the images in a strict and disciplined manner to sell the exact product shown.. I recommend that if you use images you always make it a linked image. If your web host doesn't allow linking of images then I would not use the image, just go with text links. This way there is no doubt about copyright infringement.
