Taking astrophotos with Svbony T Adapter

Inexpensive and easy to use with your camera and telescope

If you have a telescope and a DSLR digital camera you need some kind of way to connect them together. That's what this Svbony setup does. It connects the two.

But there are a couple of different configuations you will be using. In this tutorial I will show you how to do it. It actually is quite easy. I am using the exact Svbony adapter that I bought on Amazon. This is the one:

SVBONY T Adapter and T2 T Ring Adapter Telescope Camera Adapter Metal 1.25 inch Telescope Accessory Compatible for Canon EOS Cameras Photography Dedicated CA1 Sleeve Extended Cylinder for Telescope

There are three parts to it: (From left to right) The Camera mount adapter ring, the extended cylinder, and the T-Type adapter.

It's important that you buy the right adapter for your camera. You might have a Sony, a Canon, a Pentax, a Nikon or some other brand. Each of these manufacturers has it's own particular way of connecting the lens to the camera body. l have a Canon camera and here you can see the camera and standard lens. that lens clicks and rotates easily into the camera.

But it is specialized so make sure you get the right Svbony adapter for your camera. It turns on and snaps in place exactly the same as your other Canon lenses.

Now you can thread on the T-type adapter.

Now you are ready to mount that as if it were an eyepiece right into the telescope.

Turn your camera on and focus it just like you always do. This is very easy and quite nice but... you are limited in magnification. You only get the one low magnification that you telescope offers without an eyepiece. Here is a picture I took of the moon with this setup (during the day).

With your telescope you change eyepieces to get different magnifications. How can you do this with the Svbony setup?

That's what the long extended cylinder is for. You insert an eyepiece into it and tighten the eyepiece in place with the screw on the side. In the picture it is a long and ugly screw with a wing nut on it! That is because I lost the knurled screw that comes with it.

Then you screw that extender into the adapter.

Then screw the T-type adapter on.

And that's it. Mount that in the eyepiece holder of your telescope and you are ready to focus and take pictures. Notice that in the next picture I have attached it to the telescope. But I have also added a right angle prism for viewing comfort.

And here is a picture I took.

So that's it. Take it off and put in another eyepiece for a different magnification.

For just a few dollars you have a very easy way to use your digital SLR camera with your telescope to get a wide variety of photos. Just make sure you get the right one for your camera brand.

And Svbony also makes a very inexpensive universal adapter for cell phones:
