The 4th Annual VALHALLA "The Meading of Life" competition will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Iron Hill Brewery in West Chester, PA. They are in serarch of judges, stewards and entrants. You can learn more on their website at: www.valhalla-mead.com

Mead Tasting at Blacksnake Meadery: On Saturday, 06 September 2008 The cost is $4.00. The BlackSnake Meadery is located at 605 Buffalo Road in Dugspur, Va. Their Website

B.Nektar Meadery is releasing new Meads on Aug 2nd, This is their first batches of meads and its the perfect day to release them; after all, Aug 2nd is international Mead day!! Wassail! They will be having an event at their meadery on that day with some tasting and other activities. The meads they are announcing are:

Oaked Orange Blossom
Cinnamon Vanilla
Tupelo
Bourbon Barrel Orange Blossom and Buckwheat

AHA Mead Day - First Saturday in August every year. Designed to promote mead for home brewers. Register on their site and get good ideas for hosting your own mead making party AHA Mead Day

Springfest at Long Island Meadery: - If you live in the northeast and have always wanted to visit a Meadery you might want to try Long Island Meadery - The event is on April 25

Learning Vacation - How about taking a mead making vacation to a European Country that has the experts that have been making it for a very long time. The mead Making vacation 2008 class dates: May 25-31 & August 17-23.

Competitions:

Mead Competitions Throughout the Year

January - Meadlennium is hosted by the Central Florida Home Brewers in Orlando, Florida, USA. This is the second largest mead-only competition and is also the longest-running mead-only competition. Meadlennium is a BJCP/AHA sanctioned event. Held annually near the end of January in Orlando, Florida, the next Meadllennium will be January 26, 2008. The entry deadline is January 2-19, 2008. February - Domras Cup by the Ssavannah Brewers League - This competition was only open to club members but it is now an AHA sanctioned event and open to all home based mead makers learn more here

February - International Mead Festival (IMF) Home Mead Makers Competition is hosted by the IMF in Denver/Boulder, Colorado, USA. The Home Mead Makers Competition (HMMC) is the largest Mead-Only contest. It is a BJCP/AHA and IMA sanctioned event. Though the judging will take place in January, the competition results are announced at the International Mead Festival , which takes place on February 8-9, 2008. May - Goblets of Gold mead competition will take place in Homer, Arkansas, USA. This competition is hosted by the Q & Q Brewers Guild and the Ring of Fire Meadery, and it is a BJCP/AHA sanctioned event. The competition date for 2007 was May 11. For more information contact: Laurence Livingston

July - Arizona Mead Cup is hosted by Brewmeisters Anonymous club in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The date for the 2007 Arizona Mead Cup was Saturday, July 28. Visit Brewmeisters Anonymous .

August - AHA Club-Only Mead Competition is hosted by Al Boyce and the Minnesota Home Brewers Association of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The AHA Club-Only Competitions (COC) are open to all AHA-registered homebrew clubs. This is a BJCP/AHA sanctioned competition. The AHA Club-Only Mead Competition will be held on August 2, 2008. October - Valhalla, the Meading of Life is hosted by Brewers Unlimited Zany Zymurgists (BUZZ) in West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. This is a BJCP/AHA sanctioned event. The 2007 competition was held on October 20. Visit Valhalla, the Meading of Life .
