If you are just starting out with beekeeping, or plan on starting soon you have a few ways you can go about it.

You might be able to get a starting assortment of supplies from various people. Craigslist is a good place to start.

You can also buy a starter kit. There are two advantages to buying a starter kit. First off you get a better price rather than buying the items individually. Secondly it takes worry out of wondering what you should get.

With a starter kit they set you up so you need for nothing. Which is great if you have never kept bees and are not sure what you will need.

Beehive Kit - 3 Mediums

This is a completely assembled and painted hive kit. It includes all the essential items of a hive. Made with finger-jointed white pine supers. Includes a screened bottom board, mite board, feeder, entrance reducer, inner cover and lid. This kit includes 3 medium sized supers. Medium supers are lighter and easier to handle. The bottom two boxes will typically be used as the brood chamber. These are commercial grade quality hives. This means that there may be some minor knots in the wood, they may have a bit of a rougher cut, or the paint may not complete every nook and cranny.
