Pictures of Trevi Fountain

I visited the amazing Trevi Fountain in Rome as part of my pilgrimage in Europe. I ended up spending a total of 11 days in Rome and it was quite a remarkable time for me.

Here are some pictures of the fountain. One of the pictures doesn't show you any of the sculpture work, you just see some of the fountain water. I like that picture though because it gives you a sense for the number of tourists that visit the fountain.

About the fountain: It was completed in 1762 and it is in the Baroque style. The central figure is the god Oceanus. He is riding on a shell chariot being pulled by four mythical figures (two hippocamps and two tritons).

The name of the fountain derives from the Latin word trivium, meaning "intersection of three streets". The statue is located right in the center of Via De' Crocicchi, Via Poli and Via Delle Muratte.

The most famous of the fountains is right in the middle of the square. You can see it in the picture above (obelisk). It is the Fountain of the Four Rivers. It is early baroque in style and it was designed by Bernini in 1651. I have a video about Bernini on my website here

And for fun I will travel along with Audrey Hepburn from her movie "Roman Holiday", visiting some of the locations in the film. You can check that out here: Will and Audrey Hepburn on a Roman Holiday

Who is that slim and handsome man with Audrey on the Spanish steps?
