Test Firing a Small Catapult, and Tips on how to improve performance

A lot of people ask how far a catapult will fire a projectile. In this video I show you exactly how far I get my torsion catapult to fire, using a tape measure. The distance from the catapult to the wall is seventeen feet. And I show several different techniques for getting it to fire even further.

A quick overview of the tips that you use to get better performance:

• Wind the string or rope tighter
• Put a piece of wood across the base of the catapult to keep it strong, so you can wind even tighter
• Lengthen the swing arm of the catapult or move the cup up or down the length to different spots
• Move the crossbar up or down, or add pieces of wood to it to change the trajectory angle
