Silent Hill: Reflections of Pyramid Head

Pyramid head is one of the most recognizable figures in video gaming. And one of the spookiest!

One of the great things about this diorama is the simple effect that the mirrors cause. There is a definite feel to Silent Hill and how do you transmit that feel in a diorama? The mirrors are perfect for this. It gives it a surreal yet spooky feel.

Marshall has done lots of dioramas for us. You can check them out here.

He tells us a bit about this diorama:

Contrary to my usual plan in making a diorama I began this without a final vision, just was going to make Triangle Head and go from there. Triangle Head was made from a Hasegawa 1:72 scale American Infantry figure that was highly worked with an Xcto knife. The head piece was painstakingly made of about 14 pieces of miniscule balsa wood pieces. The "nurse" was made from a pewter fantasy female piece, unfortunately I don't have the package any longer. The "victim" that is being dragged was also an Infantry piece.

As I finished the figures, I pondered for a long long time how to finish this, I had all kind of scenarios going through my head. Then one day I saw a man cutting mirrors for a car and epiphany reared it's head. Obviously the scene is surrounded by mirrors.

Are you a spy or a peeping tom? The shadowbox

Another wonderful dioram Sometimes a shadowbox or diorama is a miniature scene frozen in time. And sometimes it is also a puzzle to be carefully put together. Check out this shadowbox built by a web visitor (Luis) . Are you a spy or a peeping tom shadowbox

Smaug and Bilbo Diorama

This is a spectacular diorama made by a web visitor (Giorgio). He shows us how he made the diorama. Oh and he hand sculpted the dragon too. He shows us step by step how he did that too. The Smaug Diorama
