Nomura Red Maple

The Nomura Red Maple otherwise known as Acer Palmatum Nomura is a tree with red leaves that is commonly used in bonsai. In its natural habitat it can grow from 15 to 20 ft with a relatively moderate rate of growth and can survive within temperatures as low as -5F. We here at storm the castle have decided to try our hand at turning this tree into a Bonsai. There isn’t much information about this online so we will regularly update this page. We will be frequently posting information about when each step is performed as well as the different techniques attempted and corresponding pictures.

For this project we are using Bonsai Boys Nomura Red Maple seeds and seeds from Seeds & Things, which can be found on Amazon Bonsai Boy's Japanese Red Maple Seeds

We have planted these seeds for germination. Check out the full look with pictures about it right here

Japanese Maple: sown 3/8 inch deep. Thse need 50% shade so they are placed out of the direct light of the gro light so they don't get a lot of light.

And here is the label instructions for these seeds. We use a dowel to measure off how deep to plant the seeds.
