In the previous part of this tutorial we got most of the sword and dagger completed. In this part we just finish making it then we paint it. Part 1 of this tutorial is here |
Now put some glue on the other end of the handle; where the blade of the sword is. You can put a little bit of paper towel in there if you want but be careful. You do not want it to squeeze down on anything or make anything tight. You might not be able to get the dagger into the sword if its squeezed tight.
Now draw points on your sword and on your dagger and cut the points out with any kind of tool like a small saw or even a hobby knife. You can even use a belt sander.
Now make the blade guard by cutting out a circle of foam board and cutting a slot in it as shown.
Slide that circular blade guard over the tip of the blade and all the way down to the handle. Glue it in place.
Now glue wire onto the handle like shown in this picture. Just cut pieces of wire and glue them around the handle. If you use hot glue gun it is easy. But if you use a regular glue it will take a while so you have to tape it all down while it is drying. You can also use any number of things rather than wire like thin hose or even pieces of rope or twine.
Once all the glue is dry go ahead and paint it. I painted the handles black and the blades silver. Don't forget to take the dagger out and paint that blade!. Don't put the dagger back in until it is completely dry. Otherwise it will stick and you won't be able to take it back out!
I also wrapped both the handles in electrical tape. We have already painted the handles in black and that looks great but I like the look of the electrical tape. I think it looks even better.
And there you go! The completed sword and dagger. This picture shows me about to put the dagger into the handle of the sword.
With the dagger installed you can't even tell there is a dagger in there. It looks like one continuous handle.
Here is the video showing this complete tutorial
Make an Assassin's Creed Hidden Blade that works! This is a fun project that just uses cardboard or foam board with a rubber band. It really works quite nicely. Make an Assassin's Creed Hidden Blade
