Graffiti Alley in Baltimore Maryland

I was waiting at a bus stop and there was a local guy waiting too. So, I started up a conversation with him; asking him about any local sites I could visit that would be interesting yet a little off the regular tourist sites. He recommended I take a walk over to a place called Graffiti alley. It was only a block away so I walked off to see it. I could always catch a later bus.

I arrived to the alley to find a photo session going on with a semi-professional photographer and a young man with a geared up red sports car.

I started up a conversation with the two of them and came to the distinction that the alley is actually a living and breathing thing. The young man told me that the graffiti changes on a regular basis.

The alley is in an "L" shape. It goes about 75 yards then takes a right angle turn and extends another 50 yards.

The young man with the red sports car recommended I return at night because it is really spectacular here in graffiti alley. I didn't get to do it. Prudence ruled my decision. It is a big city and a dark alley! Maybe another time.

1. The Walters Museum - which included a whole bunch of wonderful things including the illuminated manuscripts, a 17 century Flemish chamber of wonders, and a great exhibition of Medieval arms and armor.

2. The Edgar Allan Poe House (And his grave site) -

3. Overview of Baltimore and my stay there - This was an unexpected surprise for me.

4. The Basilica of the Assumption - It's a beautiful cathedral but I was very much surprised by the fact that it was not built in the gothic style.

5. The Peabody Library - They do not build libraries like this anymore.
