Sardine box diorama - part 3: Adding terrain textures

Next we add the various textures to the diorama.

The Woodland Scenics kit comes with a variety of textures for this.

This is a nice variety of textures. Some are very fine like powder, some are thick like bushes and there are even some very small pebbles called talus. this variety will give a realistic look to the diorama.

To adhere these textures to the diorama you spray on glue. The Woodland Scenics kit comes with the glue and the spray bottle.

So, spray on some glue.

Then sprinkle on the various textures. The kit gives three different shades of green. Select the different colors for different areas. This will give it a very natural look.

To attach the larger terrain texture as bushes apply a bit of glue to the diorama.

There is also a fiber pad. You can pluck off and tease off piece of this then glue the pieces to the diorama. This forms light and thin bushes and grass. You can also sprinkle the very light texture on top of it then seal it with the spray bottle of glue.

Talus

Talus is a very small pebble in irregular shapes.

Mix talus with the various colors you use on the diorama.

And spread it out on paper towels to dry.

Once it dries you can glue the talus to various areas of the diorama. Sprinkle a little bit of the green textures over it to make it blend in nicely.

We complete the texturing of the diorama by gluing on a sprinkling of sand where the beach is. Note that the kit doesn't include sand. This is some sand that I have.

Okay, the texturing is done and it look great. We have applied a wide variety of textures.
