A flourish is what that extra part on the top of the helmet is called. I received this picture and the information about how to do this from a web visitor named Helen. My thanks go to her for letting us know how to do this!

Here is what she has to say about making this:

The holding section on top was a small cereal box which had flaps that I glued on to the main helmet. I pegged the box whilst it dried to make it good and tight and then sprayed it gold. A feather fan was bought for the flourish from a "cheapie' shop. I cut some of the plastic base off the fan and put staples in it to hold it open.

I then glued it in place and scrunched some foam around it to keep it steady. Thanks so much for your brilliant template. I've never made anything like this before and I was so amazed with the result. Helen
