Make a Witcher 3 sword with Glowing Runes
I have been playing The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt video game and have been enjoying it. In the game the Witcher wields a lot of different swords that have glowing runes on them. I thought it might be interesting to do this as a project.
This is an easy project and it is inexpensive. I have links to the battery operated LED strings. Cost less than ten dollars.

It uses a neat little LED string setup that is battery operated. I bought it on Amazon and here is the exact one I bought:
And here is a quick look at how we make this sword. This picture shows the inside of it. You can see the battery pack on the left and the line of LED's that run down the middle of the sword. Really rather easy project. And the total cost, including the foam board is about ten dollars.
Print up the template (Right here) and cut out the pieces.
Two of the template pieces have a large rectangle in them. This is the battery compartment. Be sure to cut those out too.
Some of the template pieces need to be taped together. The template shows you which pieces to tape together. This is what you end up with here.
Now we are going to use those template pieces to make our pieces out of foam board. This picture shows you how many of each two make. Make two each of the pommel, blade and spacer pieces. Make one of the guard piece.
I have planned this project out so you can do the whole thing on two regular sheets of foam board. The long blade template fits comfortably on a sheet in the diagonal position.
You end up with seven pieces. Six are shown here on a piece of foamboard. And the seventh piece is another long blade piece diagonal across another sheet of foam board.
Subject Figures: Geralt of Rivia is a witcher and the main protagonist of the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski and its adaptations, including The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt videogames. Like all Witchers, Geralt is a monster hunter for hire.
Scale: The size of the figure is 54mm and 1:32 in Scale. They are made from Pewter Tin Alloy metal.
