In this part of the tutorial we make the pommel assembly and put the sword together. In the next part we finish the whole thing off. Part 1 of this tutorial is here
|
Cut out the pommel extension piece. Kind of looks like a picked fence with a lot of dashed lines on it. Trace this onto either card stock or cereal box cardboard.
Notch out the five notches with scissors.
Next score all those dashed lines by lightly cutting them. This is so you can fold all those lines nice and straight. Scoring them first insures a clean and straight fold.
Fold it up into a six sided tube and glue the notched end to the ping pong ball like you see here. Apply mod podge to the whole thing if you have it. Or use medium gloss gel if you have that.
Paint the guard part a base color. This is whether you used mod podge or not. Almost any color will do. We will later paint it silver.
Apply a liberal amount of glue to the blade and slide it firmly into the slot of the handle. Add a bit of extra glue afterward so it is nice and strong.
It looks good!
Let's continue with the tutorial
