Make Sting from the Hobbit - out of foam board

 

This is a tutorial on how to make a nice looking Sting from the Hobbit. You make it out of foam board or cardboard. And I give you the template which makes it real easy.

Sting

 

Tape blade halves together

Print up the template and cut out the various pieces. Two of the pieces make up the blade unit. Tape those together like shown in this picture here.

Cut out the pieces

Trace those template pieces onto your foamboard then cut them out.

 

continue handle assembly

Glue together the handle assembly. First there is a piece with the curved hand guard on it. Then the piece with the slot on it goes right on top as shown in the picture.

 

Finish handle

Then you glue the third handle piece on as shown here.


The blade slot

This assembly forms a slot that the blade will slide into.

Now you can go ahead and glue the blade into the slot of the handle assembly. If you have a hot glue gun you should use that for a stronger and faster hold.

 

NextOkay, we are almost done! Let's finish this sword off
