I definitely have a clear favorite when it comes to castles in America. It's an easy choice for me but I do have a runner up. Let me just mention that runner up.

The runner up is Curwood Castle in Ossowo Michigan. And for a couple of different reasons. First off the man who built the castle was a writer! Yup, and he wrote right here in his castle. He was also an adventurer who wrote adventure novels! It's a very small castle nestled up on the side of a river. I have more about it here: Curwood Castle
But the clear winner of my favorite castle in all of America is Castello Di Amorosa in Napa Valley California. And for a few different reasons. First off, it was a project of obsession for the owner. And he obsessed making it as authentic as possible. He wanted it to be a real 13th century Italian villa/castle. And he accomplished the feat. It is magnificent and it has a wonderful feel to it. So.... it is an actual Medieval castle here in America - The only one. Although the Cloisters in New York is also an authentic Medieval structure too, but not a castle. It is a cloister. I have much more about this castle here: Castello Di Amorosa (Castle Winery) It sits on 171 acres of land. And the castle is 121,000 square feet with 107 rooms. Can you say anything more about it? It truly is a medieval castle! And right here in America. I have pictures, and more about many castles in America right here: Medieval Castles and Buildings in America - (The list totals 62) |
