Some Good advice and a Great Terrrarium

Here is a picture from a web visitor who followed one of the tutorials on this site. The Creator of this terrarium is Michael S. Thanks Michael! I wanted to point out a couple of things about this terrarium which will be of great use if you are a beginner.

Michaels TerrariumHe used a pickle jar as the container for his first terrarium which is a great choice because it is of a reasonable size and the opening is large enough to get your hand in there and work on it. Another great tid bit we get from this terrarium is that it comes with a lid. Michael is going to leave the lid off for a period of time so he can monitor how the plants do. He can water them and maintain them and when he sees everything is going well he can add a bit more water then put the lid on it.

This is a great way to start out with a terrarium. It takes the biggest problem out of making a sealed environment terrarium because once you seal that thing up you have to hope you got everything right.

The overall composition is great too. Just a few plants, some nice additional props, deep rich soil and everything nice and neat.

Premium Kit for Small Terrarium (Succulent, Cactus, and Fairy Garden)

Perfect kit for a first time terrarium gardener or to give as a gift. Provides the exact amount of the specific "ingredients" necessary to build a thriving small terrarium. Will work for closed terrariums, open terrariums, fairy gardens, as well as with succulents and cactii. Kit includes terrarium potting soil, activated charcoal, two different sizes of semi-polished river rocks, shag moss, and complete but easy to follow step-by-step instructions. The ingredients supplied are in the following approximate amounts: 9 oz. soil; 8 oz. small river rocks; 8 oz. larger river rocks; 1 oz. activated charcoal; 1 oz. sheet moss. Great for anyone wanting to set up a terrarium without having to go and find all the different pieces separately. Please note that the kit does NOT include a container or plants. Please also note that this kit is for a SMALL terrarium. We recommend using a mason jar if you are making a closed terrarium or a container with a 4 - 6" diameter if you are making a succulent or cactus terrarium.
