This is a tutorial on how to make the Helicopter Blade Sword from the Movie Live, Die, Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow The template for this project is right here I also have a video tutorial on this project at the bottom of the page.

The Sword and a closeup of the handle
Materials Needed:
Measure and cut out the two blade pieces. Pretty easy to do. They are 38 inches long and 6.5 inches wide with some cuts at the corners.
This drawing (from the template) shows you the dimensions to make the blade. And it also shows you what to do if your foamboard sheets are not large enough. Make two of these and glue them together one right on top of the other.
Cut a dowel or broomstick to 14 inches long. The optimal width of it is 1.5 inches. If you can get that. But, you can improvise with anything this thickness or thicker.
Now we are going to cut a slot in one end of the dowel like this. It is about as wide as the two sheets of foamboard that is the blade. So mark it off like this. The slot will be between 1.5 and 2 inches deep.
The best and easiest way to make this slot is to first drill a hole at the end of it.
Then saw those two lines right out. Then you can remove that piece of wood creating the slot.
This is the slot.
Ok, let's continue with the tutorial
