In this part of the tutorial we paint and detail the gun-sword.

Use a blunted pencil to draw in the details on the handle and pommel. Mimic this picture or refer to the first page of the template where I have a picture of the gun-sword. The important thing is to use a blunted pencil and press down firmly so the pencil indents the foam board. Let's paint it. Of course, you can paint it any way you like. Here is how I did it. Paint everything silver. But not the trigger or the trigger hook. We don't paint those so as to avoid the paint from getting them stuck. In this next picture I haven't yet painted the blade. Go ahead and paint your blade silver.
Next you can draw in those pencil grooves with a sharpie or magic marker. Now apply a wash to the handle of the sword. A wash is the technique of watering down black paint then applying it liberally. This allows it to seep into the indents.
Now gently wipe it. This removes most of the paint on the top surface of the foamboard but leaves the paint in the grooves. It gives it a great antiqued look.
That's it except for one more thing. Let's add the detail hammer to the sword.
