This shows the curvature of the foam board

One quick note before we begin. We use a neat technique for curving the foam board in a controlled manner. It gives us this wonderful shield like look.

Let's Get Started!

draw a line

Take one of your sheets of foam board and draw a line right down the center of it. Going the long length.

Tape template pieces together

Next, from the template, cut out pieces one, two, three and four. And tape them together as shown in this picture.

Now take that template and lay it along the center line you drew on your foam board sheet. And trace it.

Place template on foam board

Now flip that template over to the other side of the center line and trace it again.

Flip template over

You now have the full shield shape drawn. Cut it out!

Will's Tips on Cutting Foam board and using smaller foam board sheets : Don't try to cut all the way through it in one swipe. Use a really sharp blade and make three passes. the first pass just cuts the top layer of paper. Second pass cuts the foam and the third pass cuts through the bottom layer of foam.

It looks great!

NextLet's continue with the tutorial and curve this shield!
