Ok, in part 1 of the tutorial we made the armor pieces out of poster board. Now we will make the actual armor. |
Ok, try it on! Tape it lightly at the shoulders and on the sides. This is so you can adjust it. See how it fits. Trim it and adjust it to your body. Make sure there is plenty of room for you to move and for your arms to move freely.
When taping and trimming it be sure to leave a few inches of overlap on the sides. You will need this to apply the velcro. The dashed line you see here is where the back piece ends. So all that area is overlap.
Ok. We got it looking the way we want it. It looks great. Now take it off. We will apply the foam sheets to it.
Now we are going to apply the foam sheets to the armor. I am using sheets that are 12x18 inches and 2mm thick. You can use any size foam sheets. And any thickness will work quite ok.
I am using a spray on adhesive. You can use other types of adhesive or glue but this works very well because you can get a nice even and smooth coat of adhesive on the whole piece.
