Make the Trigger Assembly

Now let's make the trigger assembly. Cut three popsicle sticks and lay them out like this. From top to bottom they are 2 1/4 inches, 3 1/4 inches and 1 1/4 inches. And you don't have to be real accurate with those measurements. Glue them together just as shown.

Now cut a slot in the barrel piece about 2 inches from the end and insert the trigger in there. It should be snug and not just fall out. the masking tape helps this to be snug.

The picture shows a trigger that is only two sticks wide. Our trigger is three wide. the smaller one would go on the inside and slide into the handle gap.

Now let's make the guide for the crossbow bolt. Wrap a piece of cereal box cardboard around a pencil and tape it up. Make it three inches long.

And then slide it off the pencil.

This picture shows that tube pretty well. Put some glue on it.

And glue it right to the front and top of that crossbow as you see here. This picture also gives you a nice look at how the trigger sticks up. Be sure tape this tube down nicely too. You don't have to wait for the glue to dry to tape it.

Now install the rubber band. It is easy to do. Each end goes right into the slot between the two pencils.

Now wrap some tape around that rubber band pair. Taping the two strands together. Right in the middle of them. This forms and strengthens the spot that hits the crossbow bolt. This is also what will go over the trigger.
