This is a partial tutorial. I just go over some of the things that make the basket hilt sword different than the regular pvc sword. For a full tutorial check out my PVC sword tutorial here.

The big difference in this sword is the basket hilt that guards the hand. We also made this out of PVC.

To make the hilt we heat up a length of inch and a quarter PVC.

Heat it until it is soft and pliable.

Use a pair of tin snips to cut down the length of the pipe.

And flatten it out.

Re heat it and fold it in half. Then put a pair of slits in it like this.

Now you can start a hole and work its size so it fits over a piece of pvc pipe.

Use your blade as a reference to the size of the hole you want.

Looks good.

Cut it, heat it and curve it to shape.

Heat as needed and you can slide it onto the blade.

The handle piece is a larger diameter piece of PVC that we cut to length then glued right on.
