How to Make Craft Foam Armor Vambraces (Forearms)

Vambraces are the forearm part of armor. They are also called the lower cannon. And they are very easy to make. You just need a few basic supplies including craft foam, paint and hot glue.

I give you the template for this project which makes it very easy for you to make.

The Template for this project is right here

This is one of a series of craft foam armor projects I have where I make a complete suit of armor. You can see all those projects here.

I also have a video tutorial on this project at the bottom of the page.

Will has a youtube channel with over 600 videos on projects you can make. Check it out right here

Print up the template. It contains two different size vambraces. A larger size and a smaller size. Decide which size you want to make.

And cut out those pieces.

Trace those pieces onto the foam.

This picture gives you a good look at the four pieces it takes to make one vambrace. The three smaller pieces will glue together to make the top of the vambrace. And the large piece you see in the pic is the underside of the vambrace. Don't forget to make that piece too.

The template has dotted lines on it. Transfer those dotted lines to the foam pieces too.

Then go ahead and cut out the pieces. You can see in this picture the extra dottled line have been drawn onto the foam. Those lines are overlap lines for assembling the gauntlet.

Now glue those three pieces together. They overlap and the extra lines show you how much to overlap them.

And if you want the little shield on your vambraces you can glue it on now.

Next Okay! Let's heat up the foam and shape it into a gauntlet
