In this part of the tutorial we continue making the sword. Part 1 of this tutorial is here
|
Bevel the blades of each of these sword pieces. A bevel is where you cut it at a 45 degree angle so it comes to a sharp edge.
This picture shows what to bevel on each of the sword pieces.
Go ahead and glue these two pieces together. Gluing tip: We used 3 in 1 glue. It works really well for this. You can use plain white glue and that will be quite good. It just takes a while to dry. You can use hot glue but that is tricky because of how big this sword is. If you don't work fast the hot glue at the beginning will begin to harden before you can apply it to the other end!

Now you can strengthen and protect the sword by applying white glue all the way aroudnd the edges. This is an optional step.
And smooth it out with your finger. This glue around the edges protects the foam from the paint, strengthens the sword and helps you create a nicer edge on the beveled parts. This also fills in any cracks between the two sword halves.
Now lets' create the handle add on parts. Cut out template part F and trace two of this on foam board.
Bevel the edges on these parts just like you see in the picture.
Glue those parts onto the handle.
Now let's do the various ornamental pieces. Cut out the template pieces labeled D.
And trace them onto foamboard. Cut them out. Make two of each. They are parts D1 thru D7. And on parts D1, D7 Bevel all the way around them. These two parts are shaded in the template so you can see what to bevel.
Glue those pieces onto the sword. The template shows you where they go.
Now tape the handle. You can use duct tape, electrical tape or masking tape. We are using brown duct tape but it doesn't matter the color. We will paint over it. This is just for strength and for hand feel. Okay! Let's continue with the tutorial
Make the Saw Cleaver from Bloodborne This is an interesting and fairly easy project you can make with two sheets of foam board and a little paint. I give you the template! And it really works. You can open and close it! Make the Saw Cleaver from Bloodborne.
