In this part of the tutorial we continue building the Burial Blade. Part 1 of this tutorial is here
|
Once the glue has set reasonably go ahead and round out all the edges on these two arm parts. Do this by cutting the corners off with a knife. It rounds out the handles, makes them more comfortable to hold and makes them look better.
Trim the assemblies to smooth out inconsistencies in the glued stack of them. And you can use sandpaper to smooth things out a bit.
As we did with the blade we should also do this with these arm pieces. Apply glue to all the edges and rub it in with your finger. This protects and hardens all the exposed foam.
Don't forget to do the exposed foam at the various hinge points too.
If you have Mod Podge then go ahead and coat all the pieces.
Mod Podge CS11302 Original 16-Ounce Glue, Matte Finish Mod Podge dries clear in approximately 15-20 minutes and can be sanded to a smooth finish. Non-toxic. Use as a glue for paper, fabric, and other porous materials, as a sealer for wood, paper, and prints, and as a finish for printed material, decoupage, and fabric. Also functions as a painting medium for water-based paint. The water-based sealer, glue, and finish for all surfaces. Non-toxic, non-flammable.
Once the Mod Podge has dried go ahead and paint all the pieces including the blade black.
