Make the Burial Blade from Bloodborne

This is a tutorial showing you how to make the Burial Blade from the video game Bloodborne. And it is a trick weapon so we make it that way so it opens and closes and you can take off the blade and use it as a sword.

It is a fun and easy project that looks great. You just need a few basic supplies and I give you the template.

The template for this project is right here.

I also have a video tutorial on this project at the bottom of the page.

Will has a youtube channel with over 700 videos on projects you can make. Check it out right here

Parts and Materials used in this project:

  • 2 sheets of foamboard (Elmer's 2 pack foam board )
  • The Template (Here)
  • Glue or Hot Glue
  • White Glue
  • Black Paint, Silver Paint
  • 1 old t-shirt or white cloth. Or you can use twine or string (this is to wrap the weapon)
  • 1 sharp hobby knife or X-acto knife. This is the one I use: Xacto X3311 N0. 1 Precision Knife With 5 No. 11 Blades
  • Some 1/4 inch wooden dowel for the pins. But you can improvise by using something else. They sell it in home improvement stores for less than a dollar.
  • Mod Podge (optional)

Note from Will: The Template and the tutorial are both absolutely free! But would you consider a donation of $1 to support my work? Paypal makes it very easy and safe. Click here to donate $1 - Every little bit helps Will to keep making great tutorials and templates. Thanks!

Let's Get Started

Cut out the template parts

Print up the template and cut out the pieces.

Assemble the template

Assemble together the template pieces. They are all marked and easy to put together.

The three parts

You end up with an "A" piece, a "B" piece and a "C" piece.

Notice that on parts B and C there are some shaded areas. Do not cut these out yet. You will get to those cuts.

Trace onto foam board

Put those piece on foam board and trace each one twice- making two of each template piece A B and C.

Now we need to trace and cut out four more pieces. To do this we cut away the shaded parts of templates B and C.

Cut away pieces

On template B you can see two shaded areas (shown by the black arrows) Cut those pieces off.

Cut here

And on the other end of template B is this round part. Cut that off too!

Now use this new version of template B and trace it onto foamboard twice! And cut those out.

And on Template C cut off this marked part.

Now use this version of template C and trace two of them onto foamboard and cut them out.

These circles that we have cut off will be needed at a later point so don't throw them out!

Will's Tips on Cutting Foam board : Don't try to cut all the way through it in one swipe. Use a really sharp blade and make three passes. the first pass just cuts the top layer of paper. Second pass cuts the foam and the third pass cuts through the bottom layer of foam.

The ten pieces

Okay! You now have ten pieces! Wow! The picture shows eight of them. There are also the two blade pieces not shown.

Label These pieces, A, B, or C as they are in the template.

Next So, let's continue with the tutorial and put this thing together!
