In this part of the tutorial we work on the handle and the pommel and the sword.

The handle is very square and we want to round it off a bit. So take a slice off each edge like this. And optionally sand those corners a little bit.

Now we are going to add grips to the handle. These are just pieces of telephone wire and some rope. You just cut a piece to size, wrap it around the handle and glue it in place.

This picture shows the various wraps that you make. This is about what the actual sword looks like with seven wire wraps and two rope wraps. But you can do these any way you like! Whatever looks good to you is quite ok with me!! And I used telephone wire and rope. But you can use just about anything that makes up these approximate sizes.

Let's Make the Pommel

Cut the pommel out of the template and trace it onto foamboard if you haven't already. Now cut the pommel on the red lines but only through the top layer of paper.

Then fold it into the pommel shape and glue it together.

Glue the square piece onto the pommel then glue that whole thing right onto the butt of the handle.

Now glue on the shark teeth. There are eight of them. The red lines shows you where to put them. But you can put them anywhere that looks good!!

Ok! Let's finish this sword off by treating the handle and painting it all. Almost done! Hang in there!!
