In this part of the tutorial we begin making the catapult by gluing together the mount assembly. This is the stand for the catapult.
Part 1 of this tutorial with video is here
|
Go ahead and cut out all the pieces. Take your time and try to keep the cuts all nice and straight. And don't forget to cut the slots out on pieces 22 and 23. Dashed lines are just guidelines not cut lines. This picture shows piece 23. I haven't yet cut the slot out.
Will's Tip on Cutting Foam board: Don't try to cut all the way through it in one swipe. Use a really sharp blade and make three passes. the first pass just cuts the top layer of paper. Second pass cuts the foam and the third pass cuts through the bottom layer of foam.
The pieces are all cut out and ready to go. Let's build it.
Glue Part two right onto the top of part one.
Now glue pieces three, four, five and six together. Then glue that stack right onto the center of part 2 just like you see here.
Now let's glue together the supports for the crossbow stand. Take pieces 7 through 14 and glue them together in sets of two. What I mean is glue seven and eight together, nine and ten together etc...
Just like this. Seven and eight are glued together.
Now glue those pairings right onto the stand of the catapult just like this. The dashed lines show you how they go.
Ok, the stand is built now let's build the actual crossbow part of it. SUPPLIES AND TOOLS Elmer's Acid-Free Foam Boards, 20 x 30 Inches, 3/16-Inch Thick, Bright White, 2-Count (902015)
X-ACTO Z Series #1 Knife with Cap (XZ3601)
