Part 2: How to design and make a paper castle, cathedral, or church, based on a real one.

Once you have all the major structures in place it is time to start creating the medium details.

This next picture gives you some ideas on how to create the medium details.

You can use single sheets of paper to get the rough shapes of detail structures. The white arrow shows you a good example of this. When making these pieces you can just attach them with a small piece of tape or just a dot of glue.

The image you see here on the left is the drawing I made. There ends up to be three of these on the cathedral.

This way you can remove the piece and change the size or shape of it and try it again. Multiple iterations are normal. Draw a piece like shown with the white arrow, put it in place and then look at the whole project, comparing it to photographs to see if it looks right.

The black arrow also shows some single sheet details. It points to a flying buttress. Same rule applies. Draw one out. Apply it and see if it looks right according to scale, size and look. Do several iterations if needed.

Modifying the existing large structures.

This image on the left shows how I achieved the tapering of those two front towers.

Okay, we have finished the large structures and the medium structures. The only thing left is to do some detail work.

Okay, let's continue on with the building
