M48A2 Patton Tank Plastic Model Build

This is a fun little plastic model build. It is a WWII era Patton Tank in 1:35 scale. Very inexpensive on amazon and an easy skill level 2. If you have never built a plastic modle and want to start with something easy this one is a good choice.

I also have a video tutorial on this project at the bottom of the page.

This exact model is available on amazon right here: The Patton Tank

A Note from Will: When I was a kid I received my very first plastic model kit for christmas. And I loved it! During my teenage years I build a whole lot of them. Then set them aside for a very long time. Now, later in life I have returned to them. And I am so glad I did. I love them just as much. And I am better at making them.

Materials and Tools:

  • The Model Kit
  • Krylon Spray Paint (Olive Drab)
  • Xacto knife
  • Testors cement
  • Tamiya thin cement (optional)
  • Black, silver acrylic paint
  • Tweezers (optional)
  • Head mounted magnifier (These are the ones that I use: https://amzn.to/2uLezjN)

Some Highlights of this build:

I spray paint the hull and chassis using a rattle can. It comes out great.

There is a hatch on the tank that you can open and close. It is the drivers hatch. And to get this hinge effect you heat a knife to melt and mushroom the plastic pin that holds it in place.

MORE PLASTIC MODELS

Make a German FlakPanzer

Skill level 2 build with some interesting differences than my other builds. This one has something called Zimmerit which is a clay-like coating on parts of the exterior of the vehicle. And this one came with a real metal chassis which gives the model some weight and heft. 1:48 Scale Make a German FlakPanzer

Make a Walker Bulldog Tank - Fun and easy build in 1/35 scale. This is a really nice scale to work with because it is small enough to look good but large enough to include plenty of detail. Probably my favorite scale for models. Make a Plastic Model Walker Bulldog

Make the A-10 Warthog Plastic Model

This is a 1:48 Scale Revell model. It is a good size with some weight and detail. I take you through the steps to making this model and I have a video to go with it. Make the A-10 Warthog
