I spent several days in a cheap motel in New Jersey. There were several things in this area that I wanted to see before moving on with my sojourn around America.

There were several people living in the room next door to me. Among the group was a young couple; the woman of which was very pregnant. I was there for several days and she spent the total of those days lying in the bed clearly getting close to having the baby.

The young father was quite fascinated with me. Telling him of my adventure around the country,and that I was a writer seemed to really strike him. Over the few days we had several talks and he would ask me lots of questions.

I visited with them several times over the few days I was there. Everyone seemed to be lost and unsure as to what to do about the pregnant woman. Being older and having had a couple of children myself I did have some advice for them all on various things.

Everyone wanted to help in anyway they could, but they were unsure as to what to do.

On the morning I left to continue my sojourn she was taken away to the hospital to deliver the baby.

I sometimes wonder how everything went.

But here is my thoughts about this whole situation.

These people were clearly struggling in modern life. Living in a motel, trying to scrape by. Probably had a series of challenges and trials that brought them to this very simple, and uncertain, way of living.

Our modern world has disconnected us from being human. And many of us have lost the knowledge of what to do.

This pattern of forgetting is something that has been happening over eras. But mother nature has wisdom that goes beyond the current generation, whatever that generation may be. Babies are born and grow. The natural cycle continues.

As of the writing of this little article that baby boy would now be six years old.
