In this part of the tutorial we add the noodle to the axe.

Measure the length of the blade of the axe. I measured mine to be 24 inches. We want to cut a slot in the pool noodle that is 2 inches less than this length. So, I cut a slot in my noodle that is 22 inches long.
Don't start the slot from the very end of the noodle. Start it two inches in.
Now stretch the noodle and push the other end in. Looks good. Now the blade is tucked right into the noodle and it will stay. But it isn't that secure so we should glue it.
Glue it all down. You can use white glue or glue gun. If your glue gun has low/high settings keep it on low setting. The high setting will melt the pool noodle a lot.
Trim the ends so it looks good. In this picture I have trimmed one end shown by the white dotted line. The other end is marked and to be trimmed next.
Now Let's paint it Go ahead and paint your axe any way you want. Here is how I painted mine. The blade is silver and a bit of the handle is brown. the small black lines and dots I did with a marker. And the handle is wrapped with black duct tape. I don't recommend painting the lower part of the handle just so the paint doesn't rub off on your hands when you are carrying the axe.
