Make a puzzle on cardboard Part 2

In this part of the tutorial we cut the puzzle and we make the box to store it in.

Use a sharp knife to cut the puzzle. If you are using an xacto knife be sure to replace the blade!

First use a straight edge and knife to trim away the excess cardboard from the puzzle.

It looks good!

Cut the picture into a series of wavy strips. Thinner strips makes a more complex puzzle. I cut mine into five wavy strips.

You can then cut those strips into pieces. Five or six will be good.

You can do the strips individually or you can hold the puzzle together and cut the strips like I did.

Let's Make the Box

It is really easy to make and I will show you how to get it just right

This next picture shows the bottom half of the box. It is a piece of cardboard that is six inches by seven inches. I cut some lengths of cardboard that are two inches wide and use these as the side walls. Glue those side walls on. but notice how there is a little bit of a lip around the edges.

Then make the top half of the box using another 6 x 7 piece and two inch strips. Glue these strips onto the sides of the sheet of cardboard. There is no lip on this one. This way it will fit right over the top of the bottom half.

There you go. The two halves are done.

Glue your half size picture onto the top of the box.

Put the pieces in the box and you are done! Yay!

Now have fun making it!
