Pomegranate is not new to me. I used to enjoy it when I was a kid --although it has been a long time now I still remember it well.

There was for us as kids, a fun factor with pomegranate. It was like a treasure hunt which including a red-fingered mess.

Pomgranate grows on a fruit bearing bush that can grow between 5 and 16 feet tall. It originated from Turkey, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. But was exported to many parts of the world including Asia, Africa, Europe and South America.

Pomegranate has a wonderful tart taste with a little bit of bitterness that comes from the seed.

But the big thing about pomegranate is that it is a heck of a mess maker! Somebody told me that when you cut open a pomegranate your counter top ends up looking like a crime scene! LOL!

There is no particular way to cut it open and retrieve the seeds but I used a method that I like where you cut it in half and then you cut it so it opens up like a flower. This way you can remove the seeds from all the roughage.
