In this part of the series we finish off the dollhouse. I am going to show you a variety of techniques that you can creatively use to make your dollhouse unique. I also have a video tutorial on this part of the project. It is at the bottom of the page.

First lets start with some painting of the exterior and interior. Start by painting the whole dollhouse inside and out with a coat of white paint. This is a primer. This will strengthen the dollhouse and it will help any other colors to be more vibrant. Next paint the various parts of the house inside and outside according to how you want it. My dollhouse is tudor style so I painted all the various beamwork brown. You can also paint interior sections of the dollhouse. This includes walls, ceilings, floors and staircases. But if you are going to be using patterned paper you might wait to do interior painting. I will show you more.
You can do murals too. In one of the upstairs rooms I did a mural of sunflowers.
Keep in mind that eventually we are going to seal everything with mod podge. No need to do it now. We will do it later. Mod Podge is great because it seals the paints, makes everything stronger and will maintain the brightness of colors. Mod Podge Waterbase Sealer, Glue and Finish (16-Ounce), CS11302 Matte Finish
